Henry Dunant

Swiss Henry Dunant, founder of the YMCA and Red Cross, was recipient of the first Nobel Prize in 1901. He was an excellent student of Bible prophecy. This put him in the same league with other great visionaries such as Martin Luther, Zwingli, Paracelsus, Isaac Newton, Kepler, Boyle, Einstein, Hans Haume of Norway.

Henry Dunant marveled as he observed in the land of God a correlation between mathematics and the actions of nature. To him, the universe was wrought by a supremely good and orderly creator. “So great is this divine work of the great and noble creator.”

Vor 150 Jahren traf der junge Bankangestellte mit einigen Gleichgesinnten zusammen und wirkte am Netz der heute weltweit verbreiteten Jugendorganisation. Ihren Initiator Henry Dunant 1828 - 1910 Als Delegierter aus Genf war er auch treibende Kraft beim Aufbau der 1855 in Paris gegründeten YMCA-Welt-Organisation. Like Henry Dunant, many other great Christian visionaries drew up charts of the past and future based on forecasts made by the inspired writers of the various Bible books.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) had apocalyptic visions involving mathematical astrology.

Swiss Paracelsus (1493-1541) spent his last years as a wandering Bible preacher and healer, fascinated with prophecy. He foretold bloodshed and social upheavals using medicine and astrology which he believed are intertwined.

Polish Nicolaus Copernicus who died in 1543 calculated that the earth revolves around the sun, which he found does not contradict the Bible. Italian Galileo agreed with him.

In 1593 a German preacher named Schwabe used the years from creation to the birth of Christ to show that numerology is linked to prophetic truth.

Robert Boyle, Anglo-Irish chemist and philosopher, regarded the study of nature as a Christian duty.

Isaac Newton (1642-1727) wrote on the Bible prophecies in the Books of Daniel and Revelation. He believed prophecy is the science of predicting history interpreting using mathematical calculations. He tried to work out the time of the 2nd Coming of Jesus. He was steeped in Bible lore, and wrote over 2 million words on Apocalyptic subjects later in his life.

Joseph Priestley, another chemist, in 1794 compared the condition of Europe with ancient Bible prophecies, the correct fulfillments of which was evidence of divine inspiration.

Johannes Kepler checked the date of Jesus’ crucifixion against the cycle of solar eclipses and found an error of 4 years! Ptolemy, Campanella and Brahe were also great Christian astronomers.

So you see Henry Dunant was in good company!
